MIVAN PIN AND WEDGE
Pin and Wedge are vital locking components used in Mivan (aluminium) formwork systems to secure and align the panels tightly during concrete casting. This system allows quick assembly and disassembly, maintaining form stability and accuracy throughout the construction process.
Unique Feature:
✅ Purpose
To join two aluminium formwork panels (wall-to-wall, wall-to-deck, deck-to-deck, etc.)
To ensure alignment and rigidity of formwork during concrete pouring
To allow fast, tool-free locking and unlocking
🔩 Components
1. Pin
A solid cylindrical rod with a flat or looped head
Typically made of high-strength steel
Inserted through pre-aligned holes in adjoining panels
Common length: 50 mm to 75 mm
2. Wedge
A sloped/angled steel plate or tapered piece
Inserted into the pin slot to lock it in place
Applies tight clamping force to the connection
Designed for easy hammering in and removal
🧱 Working Principle
Align holes of two Mivan panels (vertical or horizontal joint).
Insert the pin through the aligned holes.
Drive the wedge into the slot on the pin.
The wedge forces the panels tightly together, holding them rigid during casting.
